What is Urogesic-Blue?

Urogesic-Blue combines hyoscyamine (an anti-spasmodic), methenamine and methylene blue (anti-bacterial drugs), and sodium phosphate (a form of phosphorus) into a single tablet that is prescribed to treat bladder discomfort, burning, or pain caused by urinary tract infections or to prevent bladder discomfort during certain medical procedures. It works by killing bacteria, reducing urinary tract spasms, and decreasing bladder and urinary tract inflammation.

How do I take Urogesic-Blue?

Urogesic-Blue is tablet that is taken orally with water and without regard to food. The amount taken and the frequency of dosing will be determined by your healthcare provider; follow the dosing instructions exactly. Do not crush, chew, lick, chew, or split the tablet. Do not stop taking this medication without the approval of your doctor. Urogesic-Blue may change the color of your urine or stools to blue or green; this is normal.   • You have, or have had, myasthenia gravis, gout, G6PD deficiency, low-angle glaucoma or are at risk for glaucoma, bladder problems, an enlarged prostate, high blood levels of potassium or sodium, or an inability to urinate

  • You are on a low-sodium diet

  • You have, or have had, a mental or mood disorder, arrhythmia, hypertension, heart problems, or heart, liver, or kidney disease.

What are the possible side effects of taking Urogesic-Blue?

Some people have reported side effects after taking Urogesic-Blue. Less severe symptoms include flushing, dry mouth, nausea, or vomiting. If these conditions persist or worsen, contact your healthcare provider.

Severe side effects requiring immediate medical attention include signs of an allergic reaction (rash, hives, itching, peeling or blistered skin; swelling of the face, mouth, lips, throat, or tongue; difficulty breathing or swallowing), tachycardia, arrhythmia, shortness of breath, dizziness, blurred vision, or problems urinating.
