Desoximetasone is a topical medication dispensed as a gel, ointment, or cream that is usually applied twice daily. To use, apply a thin film to the affected area and gently massage it into the skin. Do not cover the site unless directed to do so by your doctor. Wash your hands after applying. If this medication is applied to a child’s diapered skin, do not use plastic pants.

What if I forget to take a dose of desoximetasone?

If you forget to apply your scheduled dose of desoximetasone, apply it as soon as your remember and are able. However, if it is almost time for the next scheduled dose, skip the one missed and resume the regular schedule. Do not increase the amount used or change the schedule to make up for a missed dose.

Some people have reported side effects after using desoximetasone. Mild symptoms include burning, itching, irritation, redness, or dry skin at the application site, pimples, swelling, redness, or pus filled blisters on the skin around hair follicles, tiny red bumps around the mouth and unwanted hair. If any of these conditions persist or worsen, contact your doctor.
