About Claravis

What is Claravis?

Claravis is an oral retinoid medication used to treat severe acne vulgaris that has not responded to other less severe treatments. Claravis contains isotretinoin, a retinoic acid derived from vitamin A. In large doses, vitamin A can be toxic. Isotretinoin causes cell death, leading to a high turnover of skin cells. This clears current breakouts and pushes acne below the skin to the surface. This is why patients may experience more breakouts before getting better. It also reduces sebum production in cells with sebaceous glands. Isotretinoin is a highly effective acne treatment, but precautions must be taken to moderate the effects of this powerful medication. Be sure to read the precautions and warning sections.

How do I take Claravis?

Before buying Claravis, print one of our coupons to get up to 93% off in your local pharmacy. You will be required to take pregnancy tests before starting treatment with Claravis to prevent birth defects. If you are sexually active, you will also need to use two forms of contraception while undergoing treatment and one month after finishing. Your dose of Claravis will depend on your body weight. This medication comes in the form of capsules of 10 mg up to 40 mg. This medication is usually taken twice per day with food. Isotretinoin is much more effective when taken with a meal containing fats or oils. Treatment may last anywhere from 8 to 20 weeks. The longer the treatment, the lower the chance of relapse. You should have lab testing done to monitor liver function during treatment with Claravis. Be sure to stay out of the sun as much as possible and use sunscreen when you must be outside. Ask your doctor about moisturizers and other products you may use while taking Claravis, as your skin will become extremely dry and sensitive. If you wear contact lenses, you may need to wear glasses while taking this medication due to dry eyes.

What if I forget to take a dose of Claravis?

If you miss a dose of Claravis, take this missed dose as soon as you remember it. If it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dos and continue on your regular schedule. Don’t take a double dose of Claravis to compensate for a missed one.
