What is Vanoxide HC?

Vanoxide HC comes as a kit that contains a combination antibacterial/ keratolytic/ corticosteroid topical lotion as well as a cleanser with benzoyl peroxide as the active ingredient. The lotion corticosteroid in the lotion works to reduce inflammation in the skin, while benzoyl peroxide in the cleanser works due to its antibacterial, drying, and peeling properties when it is applied to the skin.

How do I use Vanoxide HC?

Apply Vanoxide HC cleanser to affected skin, and then apply the lotion to the affected skin area. Use this product as directed by your doctor or as indicated on the package. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions regarding the use of Vanoxide HC.

What if I forgot to use a dose of Vanoxide HC?

Apply your missed dose of Vanoxide HC lotion as soon as your remember to take it unless it is almost time for the next dose. If this is the case, skip the missed dose and resume the regular dose schedule. Do not apply two doses at once.

What happens if I overdose on Vanoxide HC?

In case of overdose, call Poison Control (1-800-222-1222) to find out what to do, or seek immediate medical attention.

Symptoms of overdose with Vanoxide HC may include:

  • Redness

  • Swelling

  • Excessive scaling

Before using Vanoxide HC, tell your doctor if:

  • You are allergic to Vanoxide HC or any other medications

  • You are taking any other medications, vitamins, or herbal or nutritional supplements

  • You are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or you are breastfeeding

  • You have a skin infection, cuts, scrapes, or decreased blood flow to the skin

  • You have recently had a vaccination

  • You have recently had measles or tuberculosis (TB), or a positive test for TB

  • Avoid applying Vanoxide HC lotion to the raw, irritated, or sunburned skin, including to open wounds.

  • It may take several weeks before you see any improvement in your acne. Continue to use Vanoxide HC lotion for the full time recommended by your doctor. Consult with your doctor if your acne does not improve after several weeks.

  • Talk with your doctor before you use any other topical medicines, cleansers, aftershave, or cosmetics on your skin.

  • Vanoxide HC lotion may cause you to become sunburned more easily. Avoid the sun, sunlamps, or tanning booths until you know how your skin reacts to this product.Use a sunscreen or wear protective clothing if you will be outdoors for an extended amount of time.

  • Vanoxide HC lotion may cause bleaching. Take care to avoid contact with this product with hair, fabrics, or carpets.
