About Trianex

What is Trianex?

Trianex is a topical version of the corticosteroid triamcinolone. It is prescribed to treat the inflammation, discomfort, redness, dryness, irritation, itching, crusting, scaling, and swelling associated with a number of skin conditions including eczema, psoriasis, diaper rash, and allergic reactions. It is not for treating fungal, viral, or bacterial skin infections.

How do I take Trianex?

Trianex is a topical ointment that is applied directly to an affected area of the skin, typically two to four times a day. Before using, thoroughly wash and dry your hands and the application site, then gently massage a small amount into the skin. Do not cover the treated area unless permitted by your doctor as covering can increase the amount of medication absorbed. If being used to treat the diapered areas of an infant, do not use plastic pants or tightly fitting diapers. Wash hands thoroughly after applying the medication. Contact your doctor if your condition does not improve or if it worsens.

What if I forget to take a dose of Trianex?

If you forget to apply your scheduled dose of Trianex, do so as soon as your remember and are able. However, if it is almost time for the next scheduled dose, skip the one missed and resume the regular schedule. Do not increase the amount applied or change the regimen to make up for one that was missed.

What happens if I overdose on Trianex?

Trianex is for topical use only. However, if it has been accidentally ingested contact the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222. If the individual has stopped breathing or lost consciousness, contact Emergency Services at 911.

Before taking Trianex, tell your doctor if:

  • You are allergic to triamcinolone or any of the ingredients in Trianex

  • You are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are nursing a child

  • You are taking any prescription or non-prescription medications, vitamins, or supplements

  • You are taking cancer chemotherapy agents or any medications that may compromise your immune system

  • You are using other topical medications

  • You have, or have had, an immune system disorder, glaucoma, cataracts, diabetes, a skin infection, chicken pox or herpes, a stomach ulcer, or a circulation disorder

What are the possible side effects of taking Trianex?

Some people have reported side effects after using Trianex. Less severe symptoms include acne, burning at the application site, dried or cracked skin, change in skin color, or itching. If these conditions persist or worsen, contact your doctor.

Severe side effects requiring immediate medical attention include signs of an allergic reaction (rash, hives, itching, peeling or blistered skin; swelling of the face, mouth, lips, throat, or tongue; difficulty breathing or swallowing), a skin infection, arrhythmia, vision problems, mood changes, sleep problems, fatigue, weight gain, or wheezing.

How do I store Trianex?

Keep Trianex tightly sealed in its original container, out of the reach of the reach of children and away from extremes of temperature and humidity. Do not allow the ointment to freeze. Dispose of any unused medication according to the instructions of your pharmacist.

Warnings

Contact your doctor if you become pregnant while using Trianex. Do not cover the site where the medication was applied.
