About Metrolotion

What is MetroLotion?

MetroLotion contains a nitroimidazole antibiotic called metronidazole. It helps kill the bacteria that may contribute to the cause of inflammation and papules in adults with rosacea. Breakouts from rosacea can resemble acne and can also coexist with acne vulgaris. MetroLotion is thought to have an anti-inflammatory effect and reduces redness and swelling which results in fewer papules overall.

How do I take MetroLotion?

Gently wash and dry the affected area before applying MetroLotion. Apply the medication in a thin layer and gently rub it in. You may apply moisturizer or cosmetics after the medication is absorbed. Ask your doctor or dermatologist about which cosmetics you should use and which you should avoid. MetroLotion is usually applied once or twice a day. Dot apply this medication near your eyes. Follow your doctor’s dosing instructions for your particular condition and skin type.

What if I forget to take a dose of MetroLotion?

If you forget to apply a dose of MetroLotion, apply the missed dose as soon as you remember it, unless it’s already close to the time for your next dose. In that case, skip the missed dose and continue on your regular schedule.

What happens if I overdose on MetroLotion?

If you are experiencing severe side effects and you think you are using too much MetroLotion, stop using the lotion and see your doctor right away. If someone accidentally ingests MetroLotion, call the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222.
