About Evamist

What is Evamist?

Evamist is the brand name for a transdermal spray mist that contains estradiol, a form of estrogen; it is prescribed to treat some of the symptoms and conditions brought on by menopause, such as hot flashes, mood changes, and night sweats.

How do I apply Evamist?

Evamist is typically applied once daily, at the same time every day, with one to three sprays applied to adjacent surface areas of the inner forearm that do not overlap. If applying this medication after bathing or showering, thoroughly dry the area where it will be applied. Do not rub the medication into the skin; allow at least two minutes drying time before covering with clothing. Do not wash the site for at least one hour after application. Wash hands after applying Evamist.

What if I forget to take a dose of Evamist?

If you forget to apply your scheduled dose of Evamist, and there are more than twelve hours until the next scheduled application, apply it as soon as you remember and are able. However, if there are fewer than twelve hours remaining until the next scheduled application, skip the one that was missed and resume the regular schedule. Do not increase the dosage amount to make up for any missed applications.

What happens if I overdose on Evamist?

If an Evamist drug overdose is suspected, or it has been accidentally ingested, contact the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222. If the individual has lost consciousness or stopped breathing, contact Emergency Services at 911. Overdose symptoms include vaginal bleeding, vomiting, or nausea.
