About Entresto

What is Entresto?

Entresto contains two drugs: sacubitril and valsartan (both blood pressure medications). Sacubitril helps dilate blood vessels while valsartan keeps blood vessels from narrowing, and together they can be used to lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of death in people with chronic heart failure. Entresto is generally used alongside certain other blood pressure drugs.

How do I take Entresto?

Take Entresto twice a day with or without food, unless your doctor tells you differently. Try to take the medication at the same times every day to make it easier to remember. Keep all scheduled appointments with your doctor; you may need to have your blood pressure and kidney function checked frequently while you are using Entresto.

What if I forget to take a dose of Entresto?

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next dose. If only a few hours remain until the next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and resume your normal dosage routine. Don’t double your dose to catch up.

What happens if I overdose on Entresto?

Overdosing on Entresto may lead to very low blood pressure. If you or someone in your household has overdosed, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 to find out what to do.

Before taking Entresto, tell your doctor if:

  • You are allergic to this medication or have ever had a severe allergic reaction to a blood pressure medication

  • You have any other allergies

  • You are taking any other prescription or non-prescription drugs or supplements, especially salt substitutes and potassium supplements

  • You have diabetes

  • You have kidney or liver disease

  • You are on a low-sodium diet

  • You frequently become dehydrated

  • You are breastfeeding, pregnant, or trying to become pregnant

What are the possible side effects of taking Entresto?

Dizziness and coughing are two of the most commonly reported side effects of Entresto. Call your doctor right away if you experience any rare but serious side effects, including severe dizziness or fatigue, a slow heart rate, numbness or tingling, muscle weakness, difficult or painful urination, swollen feet or ankles, or shortness of breath. Get immediate medical attention if you believe you are experiencing a severe allergic reaction.

How do I store Entresto?

Keep your Entresto tablets in a tightly sealed container, at room temperature and away from moisture. Do not leave your medication anywhere that children or pets could easily access it. If you have expired or unused medication that you need to get rid of, ask your pharmacist how to safely dispose of it.

Warnings

Because Entresto can cause lightheadedness, you should stand up slowly from a sitting or lying position to avoid becoming dizzy and falling. Limit or avoid alcoholic beverages while taking this medication, as alcohol can lower your blood pressure further and exacerbate certain side effects.

Brand Names

Entresto is a brand name drug, and unfortunately, there is no cheaper generic equivalent at this time. If you are looking for ways to save money on your blood pressure medication, remember to claim your free Entresto coupon from our site.
