About Biafine

Biafine is a wound-dressing drug and a water-based emulsion. It works by creating moisture that aids in wound healing and protects from germs. Biafine is used in the treatment of superficial wounds, minor abrasions, dermal ulcers, first and second degree burns, sunburns, donor sites, and radiation dermatitis.

Before applying Biafine, wash the affected area with saline, clean water, or a wound cleanser. Apply Biafine in a thick layer ¼ inch to ½ inch thick. Apply gauze dressing if necessary. Reapply every 24-48 hours as necessary. Continue to apply as necessary or as instructed by your physician.

If you miss a dose of this medication, apply it as soon as you remember. Keep using the medication as directed by your physician.

Before taking Biafine, tell your doctor if:

· You are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding

· You are currently undergoing or will be undergoing radiation therapy

· You have signs of an infection at the application site

Common side effects of this medication include tingling.
