Vigamox is an ophthalmic solution that contains the quinolone antibiotic moxifloxacin. It is used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis, also known as pink eye, caused by a variety of bacteria. Moxifloxacin works by inhibiting bacterial cell division, thereby stopping the spread of the infection. Moxifloxacin is effective against both Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria.

The usual dosage is one drop three times daily for seven days, but follow instructions provided by your doctor. Close your eye and keep your head down for 2-3 minutes, or close your eye and apply pressure to the inner corner of the eyelid where the tear duct is located for two minutes. This will allow the eye to absorb the medication. Wipe off any excess medication with a tissue and wash your hands after each application. Do not wear contact lenses while using this medication.
