What are the possible side effects of taking raloxifene?

Some individuals have reported side effects after taking raloxifene. Mild symptoms include sleep difficulties, flu-like symptoms, hot flashes, joint pain, leg cramps, sweating, or swelling of the feet, legs, ankles, or hands. If any of these conditions persist or worsen, contact your doctor.

Severe side effects requiring immediate medical attention include signs of an allergic reaction (rash, hives, peeling or blistered skin; swelling of the face, mouth, lips, throat, or tongue; or difficulty breathing or swallowing), leg pain, sudden chest pain, warm feeling in the lower leg, shortness of breath, coughing blood, blurred vision, or loss of vision.
