About Hydrochlorothiazide Valsartan

What is valsartan and hydrochlorothiazide?

Valsartan and hydrochlorothiazide is a combination of two medications used to help lower blood pressure in those with hypertension. Each performs a specific function; urine output is increased by the diuretic hydrochlorothiazide; valsartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that blocks substances that constrict the blood vessels, relaxing them, and increasing blood flow. Together they lower blood pressure and improve both oxygen and blood supplies to the heart. It may also be used to treat congestive heart failure or to help improve conditions following a heart attack.
