About Helidac

What is Helidac?

Helidac is a drug therapy pack that helps to treat ulcers that are caused or exacerbated by infections of pylori. Bacteria that are sensitive to the combination of bismuth subsalicylate, metronidazole, and tetracycline die before they can cause excessive damage and increase the size of the associated ulcer.

How do I take Helidac?

A dose of the Helidac therapy pack contains 2 pink chewable tablets of bismuth subsalicylate, 1 white tablet of metronidazole, and 1 yellow and black capsule of tetracycline. Patients take a dose, measured out into packs, of a Helidac therapy pack 4 times daily. The doses are usually taken at mealtimes and at bedtime unless otherwise directed by a doctor. Thoroughly chew the 2 pink tablets and swallow them before taking other medication. Then, take the white tablet along with the black and yellow capsule. Drink a full 8-ounce glass of water.

What if I forget to take a dose of Helidac?

Skip your missed dose and return to your regular dosing schedule. Never take 2 doses at once, as it may cause an overdose. If you happen to miss more than 4 doses of Helidac, contact your doctor for instructions.

What happens if I overdose on Helidac?
