About Fluorouracil

What is fluorouracil?

Fluorouracil, an antimetabolite drug, works by killing fast-growing cancerous and precancerous cells. The topical formula, an antineoplastic dermatological medication, is prescribed to treat actinic (solar) keratosis caused by overexposure to sunlight or UV radiation; it may also be prescribed to treat other cancerous or precancerous skin conditions, such as basal cell carcinoma. Injectable fluorouracil is a chemotherapy medication used in the treatment of breast, pancreatic, stomach, colon, and rectal cancers.

Do not let this medications come in contact with the eyes, nose, mouth, or eyelids. Injectable fluorouracil will be administered intravenously in a medical facility by a qualified healthcare provider.

What if I forget to take a dose of fluorouracil?
