About Felbamate

What is Felbamate?

Felbamate is a generic drug that is an anticonvulsant and it is used to treat and prevent certain types of seizures in patients with epilepsy whose seizures have not improved with other medications. This medication may be used alone or in combination with other medication to treat partial seizures in adults.

This medication is also used in combination with other medications to treat both partial and generalized seizures in children with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.

This medication works by decreasing abnormal brain activity.

How do I use Felbamate?

Felbamate is available as a tablet and as a liquid and it is taken orally. This medication may be taken with or without food. This medication should be taken at the same time every day. Felbamate is typically prescribed to be taken 3 or 4 times per day. Consult with your doctor for specific information on how you should use this medication and take this medication exactly as directed by your doctor.

What if I forget to use a dose of Felbamate?

Take your missed dose of Felbamate as soon as your remember to take it, unless it is almost time for the next dose. If this is the case, skip the missed dose and resume the regular dose schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

What happens if I overdose on Felbamate?

You, a family member, or your caregiver should call your doctor right away if you experience any of the following symptoms: panic attacks agitation or restlessness additional or worsening irritability, anxiety, or depression insomnia aggressive, angry, or violent behavior withdrawing socially
