About Fabior

What is Fabior?

Fabior is a retinoid foam used to reduce many kinds of pimples, including whiteheads, blackheads, papules, pustules, and nodules. It is applied directly to affected skin areas on the face and/or upper body. Results will vary by individual, but Fabior has been proven to reduce moderate to severe acne in about 12 weeks.

How do I take Fabior?

Apply Fabior once a day before bed, unless your dermatologist tells you otherwise. Before using this medication, wash the affected areas with a mild cleanser and pat dry. Once your skin is completely dry, spray a small amount of Fabior foam into your open palm and apply it in a thin film. Rub the foam in with your fingertips until you can no longer see it. Wash your hands thoroughly when done.

What if I forget to take a dose of Fabior?

If you forget to apply Fabior before going to bed, skip the missed dose and continue with your normal application schedule the next evening. Do not apply more of the foam than you normally would, as this can increase your risk for side effects.

What happens if I overdose on Fabior?

Fabior can be very harmful when swallowed. If you or someone in your family swallows any of this foam, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 immediately.

Before taking Fabior, tell your doctor if:

  • You are allergic to this medication or have any other allergies

  • You are using any other prescription or non-prescription medications

  • You have had a bad reaction to topical products before

  • You have eczema

  • You or someone in your family has or has had skin cancer

  • You are breastfeeding, pregnant, or trying to become pregnant

What are the possible side effects of taking Fabior?

Some of the most common side effects of Fabior are dry, red, peeling, or flaking skin or a burning or stinging sensation. If you have any of these side effects, they may go away as your body adjusts to the medication. If they persist or are bothersome, tell your doctor. You may need to stop using Fabior if it causes too much skin irritation.

How do I store Fabior?

Keep the Fabior foam can upright with the cap on when it’s not in use. Store this medication at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Because the Fabior drug is flammable, you should keep it away from high heat and fire. Do not puncture the can, even if it is empty. Talk to your pharmacist about how to safely dispose of this medication if you no longer need it or it has expired. As with all prescription medications, keep Fabior out of reach of children and pets.

Warnings

Fabior is for use on skin only; keep it away from your eyes, mouth, nostrils, and vagina. If you accidentally get this foam in your eyes, rinse them with water immediately. Do not apply more than a thin film of Fabior to the affected areas, as applying too much can increase your risk for skin irritation and other side effects. Do not use any abrasive cleansers while using Fabior, as you risk drying your skin out. Avoid prolonged sun exposure and tanning beds, because this retinoid medication can make your skin more sensitive to light than usual.

Brand Name

Fabior is a brand name drug and does not have a generic equivalent, although you may be able to find some generic retinoid medications for acne. No matter what acne medication your doctor prescribes, be sure to check FamilyWize for a coupon. You can help you significantly reduce the retail price of Fabior and any similar medications.
