This medications comes in the form of tablets, capsules, or liquid. Each kind should be taken by mouth, usually once per day. The liquid form will come with a dropper to measure out the proper dose. • You are allergic to digoxin, digitoxin, or any other drugs.

• You are taking any other prescription and nonprescription medications, especially antacids, antibiotics, calcium, corticosteroids, diuretics ('water pills'), other medications for heart disease, thyroid medications, and vitamins.

• You have or have ever had thyroid problems, heart arrhythmias, cancer, or kidney disease.

• You are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking digoxin, call your doctor.

• Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of taking this medication if you are 65 years of age or older. Older adults should usually receive low doses of digoxin because higher doses may cause serious side effects.

• Remember that alcohol can add to the drowsiness caused by this medication.

• You are having surgery, including dental surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are taking digoxin.

• You should know that this medication may make you drowsy. Do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know how this medication affects you.

Keep all of your appointments while on Digitek. These appointments are meant to monitor your body’s response to Digitek. You may need electrocardiograms (EKGs) and blood tests periodically, and your dose may need to be adjusted. You may also be asked to check your heart rate. If you do not know how to take your pulse, ask a doctor before beginning Digitek. If it is faster or slower than normal, call your doctor.
