About Cytra-2

Cytra-2 contains citric acid and sodium citrate in a liquid formulation. These active ingredients are alkalinizing agents, meaning they can make your urine and blood more alkaline and less acidic. When your urine is less acidic, it can help remove uric acid from the kidneys, which prevents gout and certain types of kidney stones. Cytra-2 also helps prevent metabolic acidosis (a condition that occurs when the body produces too much acid) in people with kidney problems.

Shake your bottle of Cytra-2 before each use, and then pour out a dose using the measuring spoon or cup that came with your prescription. If you didn’t receive a measuring device, contact your pharmacist. Take this medicine after a meal to reduce your risk for stomach problems, and be sure to drink plenty of water. Follow all dietary guidelines provided by your doctor.

If you remember the dose within two hours of the time you would normally take it, go ahead and take the dose. If more than two hours have passed since you were supposed to take a dose, skip it and take your next dose at the regular time. Don’t double your dose to catch up.

Overdosing on the Cytra-2 drug may cause severe side effects such as muscle spasms and seizures. Get medical attention right away if you believe that you or someone in your home has taken too much of this medicine.

Before taking Cytra-2, tell your doctor if:

  • You are allergic to this or other medications

  • You are taking any other medications, vitamins, or supplements

  • You have any heart problems or high blood pressure

  • You have kidney failure or kidney disease

  • You have an adrenal gland disorder

  • You have high potassium levels or low calcium levels in your blood

  • You are severely dehydrated or have heat cramps

  • You have a urinary tract infection

  • You have swelling in your feet, hands, or lungs

  • You have chronic diarrhea

  • You are breastfeeding, pregnant, or trying to become pregnant

  • You have pre-eclampsia during pregnancy

Cytra-2 may cause mild stomach pain, diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting. You can reduce your risk of stomach-related side effects by taking this medicine after a meal. Serious side effects are rare but require medical attention when they occur. Stop taking Cytra-2 and call your doctor right away if you experience severe or persistent diarrhea, bloody, tarry, or black stools; nervousness or agitation, shallow breathing, unusual weakness, an irregular heart rate, dizziness, unusual mood changes, muscle pain or twitching, or tingling, swelling, or numbness in your hands or feet.

Keep your bottle of Cytra-2 liquid medicine tightly sealed when not in use. Store the bottle at room temperature and avoid exposure to moisture and temperature extremes. Keep all your prescription drugs out of reach of any children or pets in your home.

Warnings

Consult your doctor before using antacids while taking Cytra-2. Don’t eat high-sodium foods or add extra table salt to your meals. Your doctor may provide you with a diet plan; adhere to this plan to reduce your risk of side effects with Cytra-2.
