About Candesartan

What is candesartan?

Candesartan is an angiotensin II blocker (ARB). It helps to control high blood pressure and has been proven to reduce the rate of mortality in heart failure patients. The angiotensin II enzyme increases intracellular calcium levels which causes contractions in vascular smooth muscle tissue which raises blood pressure. Additionally, angiotensin II indirectly increases blood volume which also raises blood pressure. By blocking this enzyme, candesartan is able to reduce blood pressure in many patients.

How do I take candesartan?

Candesartan comes in the form of a tablet, and it may be taken once or twice per day. Your doctor will prescribe the right dosage for your individual requirements.
