What is budesonide?

Budesonide is a corticosteroid medication used to treat inflammation caused by a variety conditions including Crohn’s disease, colitis, and asthma. The oral form of budesonide is most commonly used to treat Chron’s disease and inflammatory bowel syndrome. It works by being slowly released into the intestines to stop inflammation.

How do I take budesonide?

Budesonide comes as a capsule to take orally. It is usually taken once per day in the mornings for 8-12 weeks or until the condition is under control. Then your doctor may slowly decrease your dose.
